The 7 Principles of Graphic Communication
The 7 Principles of Graphic Communication is a free 18-page differentiated teacher resource for GCSE and A Level Graphic Communication. Original visual exemplars help students identify, explain and apply balance, alignment, hierarchy, contrast, repetition, proximity and white space.

Free for classroom and educational use. Please retain the copyright notice included in each file.
What is Included?
This 18-page pack introduces each principle with an original visual exemplar, then provides a focused GCSE task and a more independent A Level extension. It can support whole-class teaching, analysis, redesign, critique and project development.
The resource includes:
How to Use the Seven-Principle Pack
Begin with the quick-reference page, then display one exemplar at a time and ask students to identify visible evidence. Choose the GCSE route for focused recognition and explanation, or the A Level route for comparison, judgement and independent development. Later activities show how several principles work together.
Suitable for GCSE and A Level Graphic Communication
The resource is designed specifically for Graphic Communication. GCSE students receive structured terminology, evidence prompts and a focused poster challenge. A Level students compare visual systems, consider audience and format, evaluate trade-offs and develop two connected outcomes. Teachers can adapt the pack for different examination boards without implying endorsement.
