This Refund and Cancellation Policy explains how customers may cancel an order, when refunds are available and what happens if there is a problem with a portfolio-feedback service.
This policy should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions. Nothing in this policy limits or removes a consumer’s statutory rights.
1. About the service
Portfolio to A Star is operated by Ian Bradbury trading as Portfolio to A Star.
- Email: help@portfoliotoastar.co.uk
- Business address: 79 Park Street, Swinton, Manchester. M27 4UN
The service consists of one written portfolio-feedback report or completed feedback proforma delivered by email. It does not include a meeting, ongoing tuition, reassessment or revision unless separately agreed in writing.
2. Your statutory cancellation period
A customer who purchases the service online normally has the right to cancel the contract without giving a reason during the statutory cancellation period.
The cancellation period ends 14 calendar days after the day on which the contract is formed.
Portfolio to A Star will not begin assessing the submitted portfolio during this 14-day period. Customers are therefore not asked to waive or shorten their statutory cancellation period.
3. How to cancel during the cancellation period
To cancel an order, send a clear statement confirming that you wish to cancel to:
Please include:
- The customer’s name
- The order number
- The date of the order
- The email address used when ordering
- The service purchased
You may use the model cancellation form at the end of this policy, but you do not have to use it.
The cancellation request is effective when it is sent, provided it is sent before the cancellation period expires.
4. Refunds following cancellation
If a valid cancellation is received within the statutory cancellation period, all payments received for the cancelled service will be refunded.
The refund will be made:
- Without undue delay
- No later than 14 days after we are informed of the cancellation
- Using the same payment method used for the original transaction, unless another method is expressly agreed
- Without an additional refund fee charged by Portfolio to A Star
Currency-conversion differences or charges imposed independently by a bank, card issuer or payment provider are outside our control.
5. When work begins
Portfolio assessment will begin only after:
- The statutory 14-day cancellation period has ended; and
- All files and information reasonably required to provide the selected service have been received.
The expected 14-day turnaround period begins when both conditions have been satisfied.
6. Cancellation after the statutory period
After the statutory cancellation period has expired, there is no automatic change-of-mind right to cancel the service.
If assessment work has not yet begun, contact us promptly. We may agree to cancel and refund the order as a discretionary goodwill measure, but this does not create an additional contractual cancellation right.
Once assessment work has begun, a change-of-mind refund will not normally be available.
This does not affect statutory remedies where the service has not been provided with reasonable care and skill, as described, or within the agreed time.
7. Problems with the service
The portfolio-feedback service will be provided with reasonable care and skill, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Please contact us promptly if:
- The report relates to the wrong portfolio or student
- An ordered assessment section has been omitted
- The delivered file cannot reasonably be opened
- The report contains a clear factual or administrative error caused by us
- The service has not been provided as described
Where legally appropriate, the first remedy may be to correct or repeat the affected part of the service. If repeat performance is impossible, cannot be completed within a reasonable time or would cause significant inconvenience, the customer may be entitled to a proportionate price reduction or refund.
8. Educational opinions and examination results
Portfolio feedback is an independent professional educational opinion based on the material supplied at the time of assessment.
A refund will not be due solely because:
- The customer or student disagrees with an educational opinion
- A teacher, school or examiner later reaches a different view
- The student does not achieve an anticipated mark or grade
- The student does not follow the feedback provided
- Additional or altered work is produced after the assessment
This provision does not prevent a customer from seeking a statutory remedy where the service was not provided with reasonable care and skill.
9. Delayed delivery
Feedback will normally be delivered within 14 calendar days after the statutory cancellation period has ended and all required material has been received.
If delivery is delayed, the customer should contact us at help@portfoliotoastar.co.uk.
Where required by consumer law, the customer may specify an additional reasonable period for delivery. If the service is still not supplied within that period, the customer may be entitled to cancel and receive an appropriate refund.
If delivery by a particular date was expressly agreed as essential before the order was placed, different statutory rights may apply.
10. Delays caused by missing or unusable files
The delivery timetable will not begin until all reasonably required files and information have been received in a usable form.
A refund will not normally be due for a delay caused by:
- Missing portfolio pages or project information
- Unreadable, corrupted or inaccessible files
- An incorrect customer email address
- Failure to respond to a reasonable request for information
- Failure to check a spam or junk folder
This does not prevent cancellation during the statutory cancellation period or any other mandatory consumer right.
11. Duplicate or incorrect payments
If an order has been charged more than once or an incorrect amount has been taken, contact us with the order details. Any verified duplicate or incorrect charge will be refunded promptly.
12. Refused or cancelled orders
If Portfolio to A Star cannot accept an order, any payment already received for that order will be refunded.
If we must end a contract after it has been accepted for reasons not caused by the customer, the customer will receive an appropriate refund for any service not supplied.
13. International customers
This policy is based on the consumer law of England and Wales. International customers retain any mandatory cancellation or refund rights that apply under the law of their usual country of residence and cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Requesting a refund or raising a complaint
Contact:
Please provide the order number and a clear explanation of the request. We will acknowledge the matter and aim to provide a substantive response within 14 calendar days.
15. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the service, business or applicable law changes. The policy applying to an order will normally be the version supplied or made available when that order was placed.
